Children looking at gold in its natural state underground at Central Deborah Gold Mine

5 experiences that will be remembered for life

Do you have happy moments from your school years that you often recall to family and friends? At Bendigo Heritage Attractions our mission is to create life long memories for your students.

Bendigo’s gold rush story is unbelievable! A sleepy sheep run turned into a massive camp of hopeful gold diggers in a matter of weeks. By the time the gold rush finished decades later, a whopping 700,000kg had been found in an area 16km long and 4km wide.

You couldn’t make up a story like Bendigo’s if you tried, and that’s why these five authentic experiences will be remembered for a lifetime:

1. See what pitch dark really is on our Mine Experience Tour at Central Deborah Gold Mine

2. Hear the story of Bendigo’s First People on the Dja Dja Wurrung Tram or learn about the city as it was during WW1 on the Anzac Centenary Tram

3. Smell the incense as you discover more about Chinese culture and Bendigo’s Chinese heritage at the Bendigo Joss House Temple

4. Taste the traditions of old by enjoying a Miner’s Pasty underground;

5. Touch the French polished seats of a newly restored heritage tram at the oldest operating tram depot in Australia.
